CHALLENGE
The Australian Pavilion at the Shanghai 2010 World Expo has a significant national presence and is expected to attract 70 to 80 million visitors and is the largest expo the world has ever seen.
A bi-lingual website portal was required to reflect the talents in Australia and form the best representation of Australia to the World. The website was also required to support the coordination of staff and crews at the pavilion in Shanghai.
Naturally, the website also required support for Chinese characters and mobile platforms.
SOLUTION
Alpha CMS was the ideal solution for Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
Alpha Salmon, in partnership with Parker & Partners, provided a solution that not only supported the above, but also extended the solution to create efficient communication between the teams involved in preparing the Australian Pavilion by creating a employees portal where artwork and agendas can be accessed.
Alpha CMS was also extended to provide Chinese language support Australia0China bilateral relationship.
RESULT
The Australian Pavilion was launched on 8th May 2009 with the unveiling of the website by Australia's Minister of Trade, Simon Crean at the "topping out" ceremony in Shanghai.
The pavilion officially opened its doors on the 1st May 2010 and will run series of activities until 31st October 2010. It is estimated that 70 to 80 million people will venture through the pavilion.
The pavilion website attracts 63% new visits from unique visitors with over 200,000 visits already to the website.
