Event Cinemas mobile apps

Alpha Salmon was engaged by Event Cinemas to improve the performance and usability of its existing mobile apps. Key outcomes include better Customer Ratings in the iTunes App Store through better customer experience.

Alpha Salmon took on the challenge to inherit the initial code base from the incumbent and re-evaluate the apps across iOS and Android platforms.

Alpha Salmon made recommendations to optimise the app flows, better quality video streaming through a CDN and redevelop a new customer-centric UX.

After rolling out the new updates, the Event Cinemas mobile apps across both iTunes App Store and Google Play received positive reviews and average customer ratings were improved by 2+ stars.

Within the first month of updates, there had been over 730,000 user sessions and over 180,000 unique users across the apps with approximately 130,000 transactions

MINI JCW ‘Man Clinic’ at Red Bull X-Fighters

As part of MINI’s worldwide sponsorship of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour, MINI Australia wanted to create an engaging interactive experience for attendees at their stand to promote the “MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) Performance Models” of the MINI range.

Ogilvy Group Melbourne partnered with Alpha Salmon Group’s Sweet Digital to concept and create a unique MINI brand experience that would appeal to the X-Fighters fans who attended the Sydney round on Cockatoo Island in October this year.

Using RFID technology and iPads, we created a concept to test visitors at the MINI display on their ‘manliness’ and to determine whether they needed to ‘harden the JCW up’ – by taking a MINI JCW for a test drive.

In a ‘man clinic’ theme, event staff dressed as nurses and doctors meet visitors at the stand and issued them with a RFID wristband similar to patients in a clinic. The ‘patients’ registered using RFID readers attached to iPads and completed a series of man tests via the tablet. Their final “manliness” scores were wirelessly posted onto a wall-mounted big screen leaderboard at the stand and many participants shared their “manliness” results via Facebook via our iPad app.

The event and Out-Of-Home (OOH) activation created significant buzz amongst the crowd and was one of the most popular stops throughout the day.

Sweet Digital was responsible for the concepts, user experience and development of the native iPad App, and the technology solution on the day. This involved implementing and testing the RFID solution, setting up mobile 4G WI-FI specifically for the stand, data capture & security, social media plug-in and running the video screens containing the leaderboard and MINI video content throughout the day.

It was a very successful day, the client, Red Bull and MINI AG were significantly impressed with the conception and execution process. This has led to this level of engagement being submitted as a best practice example to head office in Munich as well as other MINI markets worldwide.

Wesfarmers – Innovations at Leading Growth Conference

At their Leadership Conference, Wesfarmers wanted to create digital engagement rather than using traditional paper based surveys and polls. It was neither productive nor feasible to have an engaging experience to the participants if the results were collated manually. Wesfarmers wanted a technology driven approach, allowing pressing topics to be discussed and event delegates can respond in real time.

Sweet Digital working with Jack Morton Worldwide delivered an innovative solution consisting of an online poll and surveying system allowing event delegates to access and answer questions during the event via QR CODE and their mobile devices. This system also allowed the presenter to customise and change questions on the fly through a simple to use CMS and (in real time) update poll questions and show corresponding results.

To allow attendees to easily exchange contact details, each name tag at the event was also printed with a QR Code, so participants were able to exchange business contact details via their mobiles.

The seamless digital execution delivered an engaging and rewarding experience for the participants.

The application was an official selection of the Willoughby Spring Festival and the Sydney Fringe.

Positive Space is an outdoor family-friendly interactive installation and site-specific community dance experiment all rolled into one. “Positive Space” used motion tracking through Microsoft Kinect camera to produce digital images onto the Concourse's Urban Screen, transforming the surrounding area into a space for movement exploration through the growing trend of "whole body interface" in technology.

Participants interacts by moving their bodies to fit into the shapes that came toward them similar to the popular TV show “Banzai”, with body movements tracked, replicating and interacting in real time.

Dodging and catching items, were reflected by the player reacting to sound and visuals. The sound was a generative score that allowed for almost endless variety based around a theme that transitioned seamlessly.

Alpha Salmon Sydney launches New Zealand's Southern Cross Cables Network corporate website

Working collaboratively with Jack Morton Worldwide, Alpha Salmon delivered a fully integrated and data centric Corporate website and Extranet solution for Southern Cross Cables Network (SCCN), a leading Australasian supplier of international capacity to Carriers and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Australia and New Zealand.

The project involves a public facing dynamic website, and a secured customer interface for customers and partners to request configurations of the underwater cable services and circuits between AU and the US, with various nodes in between. The complexity of the business rules behind such application was astonishing, whilst keeping the user interface to be streamlined for ensure requests and configuration updates can be made quickly.

Southern Cross is an innovator and an advocate on provisioning first class customer service, which Alpha Salmon took to heart to align our teams to work together to ensure successful delivery of this multi-faceted execution.

Ayo Indonesia Bisa, a campaign from Unilever during South East Asia game (SEA Games) November 2011 was today awarded BRONZE winner in Branded Content category during Spikes Asia September 2012.

AyoIndonesia Bisa campaign objective was to lift up Indonesian spirit to win for SEA Games as the host country. In partnership with Mindshare Indonesia, Alpha Salmon was responsible in creating the digital idea and execution. The website received a staggering 15 million supports and more than 10,000 cheers uploaded to the website in the form of video, music, and text.

IIMS (Indonesia International Motor Show) is the biggest annual auto expo in Jakarta, Indonesia.

This event attracts millions of car enthusiast to the event.

This year, IIMS and Multiply wanted to bring the experience of the motor show into a digital format, thus allowing attendees to plan and see what will be on show at the expo.

XION and Multiply created a fully interactive depiction of the expo that included every car brand at the show. The site also allowed the users to click on individual stands and look at what vehicles are on offer and viewable on the day. The expo ran for a total of 10 days, and the campaign ran successfully and made a mention in "Tech in Asia"

Mobile users were not eliminated as the entire site and animation was created in HTML5, allowing for optimal viewing via a mobile or tablet.

AppCast and JWT wins "Best Use of Mobile in Marketing Award" at Australian Mobile Awards 2012

Sydney, August 30, 2012: JWT and AppCast won Best Use of Mobile in Marketing for a Vegemite Olympics app. As part of a wider Vegemite campaign for the Olympics, the agencies created a branded alarm-clock app which could wake people up with a phone call from either Dave Hughes or Laurie Lawrence telling them to get up and support a particular event.

Our role was to consult and cultivate innovative ideas with the clients to develop Chrome Web Apps as part of the line-up for the Indonesian launch of Google's Chrome Web Store on 29th  February 2012.  During the process, we worked closely with Google to develop and deliver technically compliant client branded apps utilising the power of HTML5 technology.
